PRIME MINISTER VISITS ZEMIO TO CONSOLIDATE PEACE
Zemio, October 21, 2026 — Prime Minister and Head of Government Félix MOLOUA has just completed a historic visit to Zemio.
The Haut-Mbomou subprefecture was abuzz on October 21, 2026, with excitement over the Head of Government’s official visit.
For this mission of great social and security significance, the Prime Minister was accompanied by a large government delegation, including the Minister of Public Security, the Minister of Health and Population, the Minister of Gender Promotion, the Minister of Territorial Administration, and the Minister of Public Service—who is also the Resident Minister for Haut-Mbomou—as well as technical and financial partners led by Mr. Mohamed AG AYOYA, Deputy Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General in the Central African Republic.
A packed and highly community-focused agenda.
After a warm and enthusiastic welcome from the people of Zemio, who turned out in large numbers for the occasion, the Head of Government began a marathon of activities directly benefiting the local population.
The program featured three highlights:
First, the inauguration of the new Zemio Police Station building. A powerful symbol of the return of state authority and security for all. This initiative brought a smile to the face of First Class Inspector General of Police Bienvenu ZOKOUE, Minister of the Interior, who bears the responsibility of ensuring the safety of the entire Central African population. With this police station built using funds from the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA), the police officers assigned to Zemio now have a safe place to work.
Next, the Head of Government and his entourage traveled to meet with returnees from the village of Koumboli—located 3 kilometers from downtown Zemio—to listen to, comfort, and provide concrete solutions for these compatriots who have chosen to return.
The people of Koumboli suffered terribly at the hands of various armed groups that once ruled this region of southeastern Central Africa, including the notorious “tongo tongo” of the LRA.
Then headed to downtown Zemio, where the Prime Minister performed the symbolic ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Women’s Center, built as part of the implementation of the Integrated Services Project for the Care of Victims of Gender-Based Violence (GBV). This act places Central African women at the heart of President Touadera’s social policy.
All of this was highlighted by Dr. Marthe KIRIMAT, Minister for Gender Promotion, Women, Family, and Child Protection.
Finally, the highlight of the event—and one that had been eagerly awaited—was the inauguration of the local radio station Bassèra. Zemio now has its own voice. This is an essential tool for social cohesion, promoting peace, and local development.
The Head of Government took the opportunity during the inauguration to address the people of Zemio—many of whom listen to Bassèra Radio—urging them to foster peace and harmony and encouraging parents to send their children to school, as they are the future of the country.
A call for reconciliation and a decisive step toward peace.
Beyond these inaugurations, the Prime Minister’s political message was clear. From Zemio, Félix MOLOUA issued a passionate and fraternal appeal to the people who remain reluctant and continue to live in utter precariousness in the village of Zapa, across the border in the DRC, urging them to return to their homeland. The CAR is their home, and the Government is working to ensure their safety.
This visit by the Government marks an important milestone that amply demonstrates the Government’s unwavering commitment to restoring better living conditions for the entire Central African population.
For the record, this peace process is already underway with the recent release of the Bambouti hostages and the withdrawal and surrender of weapons by some members of the Azandé Ani Kpi Gbe self-defense group, which already mark a decisive step toward the definitive return of peace to Zemio.
