BANGUI KM5: KWA TI KODRO MOBILIZES THE ENTIRE POPULATION
The Prime Minister, Head of Government, stood alongside the Head of State to set an example for the population.
The “Kwa Ti Kodro” citizen initiative saw strong public participation on Saturday, October 17, 2026, at Kilometer 5 in Bangui’s third district. Prime Minister and Head of Government Félix MOLOUA stood alongside the President of the Republic, Prof. Faustin Archange TOUADERA, for this day of civic action.
From the early hours of the morning, Kilometer 5 buzzed with the sound of shovels, wheelbarrows, and brooms. Members of the government, local authorities from the city of Bangui, community leaders, organizations supporting President Touadera, and associations fighting against unsanitary conditions responded in large numbers to the call.
The highlight of the day was the removal of the piles of garbage littering the Mamadou MBAÏKI market, which had become a veritable open-air dump. The President of the Republic, with his sleeves rolled up, personally helped remove the trash, thereby setting the tone for the operation.
In his remarks for the occasion, the Head of State once again urged the public to take ownership of this public service initiative.
“Kwa Ti Kodro is not just the government’s responsibility. It is everyone’s responsibility. A healthy environment is the people’s best medicine,” he emphasized to the applause of the crowd.
This initiative, which is part of the vision for a clean and healthy Bangui, continues to bear fruit. Km5, a cosmopolitan neighborhood and the economic heart of the capital, regained its luster this Saturday, much to the delight of shopkeepers and residents.
